In a stunning turn of events for the Super Bowl champions, the Miami Dolphins have released quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick.
After trading a 2017 7th rounder for the signal-caller out of Harvard, the Dolphins had a dream season with Fitzpatrick at the helm.
With only a 1-year contract agreed upon through 2016, with little guaranteed money, Fitzpatrick was rumored to want more guaranteed money and a longer contract and made it public that he was willing to hold out until he could receive a new contract.
With QB guru Adam Gase now hired as the new leader in Miami, the champions may be looking to go young behind center.
"We thank Ryan for all his hard work last year," Gase said. "But we are now looking forward."
Fitzpatrick could not be reached for comment.
