2019 3GML Positional Rankings - Running Back

This offseason we are looking at each positional group for the teams of the 3GML.  Up today is the running back position.  We will be looking at the best 1-2 combos as we know the league has moved away from one workhorse carrying the load.

4. New York Jets - Duke Johnson and David Montgomery.  This ranking could change by mid-season, but with Montgomery yet to take a snap in the NFL, we start with this tandem at number 4.  Duke Johnson has bounced around a bit in the last 6 months going from the AFC East champion Jets to the Browns and back home to New York after the rebuild.  He has a lot to prove and will get the opportunity in Adam Gase's offensive system.  We love the upside Montgomery brings to the table and think he will make some noise if the Jets can get him the ball in space.

3. Miami Dolphins - Leonard Fournette and Mark Ingram.  Bringing in Ingram was a huge boost to this team.  He has a lot left in the tank and will contribute immediately.  Fournette is more of the question mark here.  The former number 4 overall draft pick burned bridges in Jacksonville and it's surprising to see him land on a team known for wanting quality locker room guys.  But as new Raiders GM Mike Mayock recently said, "You can't have all Boy Scouts."  Regardless, Miami is hoping he regains the form from his rookie season and can help the Dolphins by moving the ball on the ground.

2. Buffalo Bills - Todd Gurley and Kenyan Drake.  Gurley is a top talent in the league but injuries have marred the former 3GML MVP from truly reaching his potential.  Ideally, Buffalo would love for him to be a true 3-down back, but with his health concerns, look for Drake to share a lot of the workload.  Drake has a lot of upside and you could argue the Bills have under-utilized his talents. Look for that to change this season in what will be a contract year for the RB2.

1. New England Patriots - Alvin Kamara and Phillip Lindsay.  This is truly an embarrassment of riches.  Kamara is already a star in the league and Lindsay is headed that direction.  Either could carry this backfield by themselves, but together they give New England one heck of a security blanket.  The only question here is, how do you get both the ball?

We will be assigning cumulative points to these rankings to determine the best overall team in the 3GML.

Buffalo - 7
New England - 7
Miami - 3
New York - 3
