New York Jets Announce Major Plans and Sign LB Darron Lee

On the eve of the 3-Guys Madden League final pre-season free agent signing period, the New York Jets have made three major announcements.
Earlier in the day, the team informed speedy wide receiver Tavon Austin that they would not be picking up his 5th year option (saving more than $12 million in cap space during the 2017 season).
Another Jet who is set for a huge pay day, Kawann Short, was also informed flatly that he would be allowed to enter the free agent market. Short was thought to have been in the long-term plans for Todd Bowles' squad, but with the deluge of talent on NY's defensive unit, someone had to go.
"I'm disappointed that I won't be here next year," Short said. "But I do respect them telling me now. I will play my tail off this year and see what's in store moving forward."
New York, with the first waiver spot in tomorrow's free agent frenzy, have announced that they have come to terms on a 4-year deal with free agent linebacker Darron Lee out of Ohio State. The team also holds a 5th year option on the hybrid playmaker.
