Jets at it Again: Strike for Third Pick in NFL Draft

NEW JERSEY – Days after dealing Cam Newton to the Cleveland Browns for Joe Haden and multiple draft picks, the front office of the New York Jets pulled off another stunning move to acquire the 3rd overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.
The Jets, San Diego Chargers and Miami Dolphins collaborated on a 3-team deal with the following terms:

San Diego Chargers receive: CB Xavier Rhodes, 2016 1st round pick (#10), 2016 1st round pick (#31), 2016 4th & 5th round picks
New York Jets receive: 2016 1st round pick (#3)
Miami Dolphins receive: 2016 2nd round pick (#35), 2016 3rd round pick (#66), & 2016 3rd round pick (#78)

The deal gives the Chargers two first round picks in a defensively deep draft while collecting some later round depth as well.
The Dolphins move out of the first round to acquire an early second rounder and a pair of early third round picks.
The Jets now own the second and third picks in round number one and will dictate how every team now organizes their draft board.
"We are excited," Todd Bowles said. "We can continue our work with our quarterback research and then look at best available player from there."
Although the team signed quarterback Chase Daniel in free agency, spelling the end of the Bryce Petty era in New York, all signs point towards Carson Wentz or Jared Goff going to the Jets.
With New York also agreeing to terms with cornerback Sam Smith and linebacker Brandon Marshall, the Jets are also looking strong on the defensive side of the ball.

AFC East notes: The Buffalo Bills have agreed to terms with linebacker Mark Barron and cornerback Casey Hayward to shore up two glaring holes in their defense.
